Greetings From Our Church
Church should be a place where our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ is served through love, hope, peace, joy and goodness. Likewise, it should be a place where people are loved and respected. Working towards this vision, our Church theme is "A Community of Neighbors". Perhaps that's why many have said First Christian Church of Athens, Alabama may be one of the best-kept secrets in town. Well, now you know, it's not a secret anymore. You are invited to come worship God with us.
We welcome all people...married, singles, divorced, under thirty, filthy rich, shy and proud, poor as dirt, can't sing, believers and unbelievers, skeptics, seekers, doubters, left-out, de-churched, middle-age, workaholics, screaming babies, older than dinosaurs, obsessive compulsive, tourists, people from all religious backgrounds and you!!!
We are a community of human beings living together as neighbors. Within our family we have brokenness, burdens, disappointments and differences of opinion. But each person is working daily to try and imitate Christ's example. We are a people where burdens are shared, joys are celebrated, failures are forgiven, brokenness is mended and hospitality is offered to everyone. We believe that the love and power of God as revealed in His Son, can transform each of us into a new person capable of walking in righteousness with Him. We believe we are to first love God, and then love our neighbors.
"Won't you be our neighbor?"
